Mali became the ninth country to launch NEPAD e-Schools when the Minister of Culture, Cheick Oumar Sissoko, representing the Minister of Education, officially opened the e-Schools Demonstration Project on May 24, 2007 at Lycee Mamadou Sarr in Bamako. He was accompanied by Moctar Ouane, Minister of Foreign Affairs; Oumar Dicko, Minister of African Integration; and senior Government officials.

[ Johannesburg, 10 August 2007 ] - Chip-maker Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) is to roll out further learning laboratories at South African schools in coming months, the company says. Newly-appointed country manager Imi Mosaheb says that following the successful launch of the first laboratory at the Nelson R Mandela High School, in Gugulethu, Cape Town, in April, "we are currently conducting site visits to the next several schools that will be rolled out in various parts of the country during the second half of 2007".

During their recent five-nation Latin American trip, President George Bush and First Lady Laura Bush visited Meninos do Morumbi, a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) comprised of over 4,000 underprivileged children and teenagers in the city of São Paulo. At Meninos do Morumbi (literally translated as Boys from Morumbi), students (girls and boys) participate in activities such as dance, music, photography, and sports, and take classes in English and computer studies. One of the organization's primary goals is increasing digital inclusion and computer literacy among youth in Brazil, a natural fit for the 50x15 Initiative, founded by AMD.
